Playing catch-up...

... with a post for CPD23 Things 8 (Google Calendar) and 9 (Evernote).

I had a look at Google Calendar but I have to be honest, I am not currently in a role in which I need to share my movements with vast numbers of people. Our team is small so they know if you are in or out and we have a shared calendar on Outlook anyway. I do not currently have a need for anyone in a professional capacity outside of my workplace to know my schedule. For personal stuff I use an old fashioned paper diary, it is quicker for me to put something in that then to find my phone, find my calendar on said phone, and type an entry on my wee keypad. Especially as when I am making plans I am usually on my mobile which renders checking dates and adding things a little tricky.  When I am very busy and important then maybe I will revisit Google Calender, or whatever has usurped it by then.

I had never heard of Evernote before but I am already sold! I might even be so bold as to proclaim that it will revolutionise my life! Previous to this monumental day I had to email myself links (which makes for a seriously messy inbox), log in to loads of different sites to see my profiles, or just admit defeat and lose useful things off into the ether. I can already see loads of uses for this. I will use it as a recipe book, for planning holidays, capturing my various comments and discussions for my Chartership portfolio, and I could go on! I'm not sure how much more I should wax lyrical about Evernote; anyway, I'm off to have a play!
